How to care for your violet wand Original Author: Dralion / Date: 2005-08-29

Violet wands are electrical devices, and your safety is dependent upon their good condition. Your wand should last indefinitely with proper care. While new wands require little maintenance, a few simple tips will keep them operating properly and providing you with many hours of enjoyment.

  • Keep the wand from getting wet.
  • Insert electrodes into the wand unit with a straight motion. Do NOT twist, as this will loosen the contacts.
  • Electrodes may be cleaned with warm soapy water, or even scalded with boiling water if they need to be sterilized. The metal endcap of the electrodes may tarnish. A light polishing using a jeweler’s cloth from time to time will keep them shiny and making the best possible contact.
  • Clean the exterior of the wand with a soft cloth. A buffing compound can be used to remove scratches.
  • If you must use an extension cord, make sure it is as heavy or heavier than the wand’s power cord. Never circumvent grounded plugs with adaptors or by cutting the plug.
  • It might go without saying, but try not to drop your wand.
  • If you have stored your wand for any length of time, or not used it for a while, you should perform an inspection of your wand’s electrical cord before using it. Be careful not to crimp the cords during play.
  • Do not store wands for long periods in areas of excessive heat such as radiators, cars, baseboards or in hot attics; or in damp areas such as basements, you risk possible deterioration or corrosion in the electrical coils as well as the collet. Silica packs should be stored with the wand if you live in very humid errors.
  • Don’t try to open the wand. It is possible to ruin your wand permanently if you are not a wand master who is trained in their repair.
  • If you have a vintage violet ray, watch it carefully to be sure it doesn’t overheat. Use only for the recommended amount of time. Overheating will cause it to lose power permanently over time.
