REVIEW: Prime GFCI/surge protector

Reading up on GFCI’s one will get a lot of “any one will do”. That would hold true in most applications. However where power surge is a concern I was looking for one that had both GFCI and surge protection.

When it comes to surge protection, Joules is what one needs to look for. While a controversial subject in its self, the higher in number a surge protector has, the better the protection. There are many reasons power surges occur and where its a problem, for example where I reside there are lighting storms out of this world, surge protection is added safety.

After researching I found the Prime Model# GFP 13000. It packs 205 Joules of surge protection which the most I found in a GFCI/protector combo. Thats very close to the average surge protection in power strips at 210 Joules.

Its compact, and carries UL,CSA and OSHA seals of approval. I tested it with the both violet wand and violet ray with foot pedal and worked with out flaw.

A bit pricey at 37.00 including shipping. Where power surge is a concern and a good professional grade GFCI is needed, the Prime GFP 13000 fills the bill and worth the price.
